Nongnooch Tropical Botanical Garden
In 1954 Mr.Pisit and Mrs. Nongnooch Tansacha bought 1500 rais (approximately 600 acres) of rolling hills and valleys at kilometer marker 163 on Sukhumvit road in Chonburi province. The newly purchased land was anticipated to become a fruit plantation filled with mangoes, oranges, coconuts as well as many other local fruits. But as fate may have it, Mrs. Nongnooch during her trip abroad, was inspired by the beauty of the world-renowned gardens and decided to turn the fruit orchard into a tropical garden of ornamental flowers and plants. At first meant for botanical conservation, the garden was later turned into a tourist attraction fully equipped with Thai style houses, cottages, villas, seminar halls, banquet halls, swimming pool, restaurants as well as other facilities constructed for tourist's convenience.

Thai Massage :
Ancient Massage or Thai Massage is an extraordinary method of aligning the energies of the body, and originates from the time of the Buddha.
Nuad Phaen Boran as is it called in Thailand, correctly translates only as Ancient Massage or Traditional Massage. More widely known today as Thai Massage, it is also often called Traditional Thai Massage, Ancient Thai Massage and occasionally Yoga Massage or Thai Yoga Massage.
In our web pages, we wanted to use only Ancient Massage to be faithful to the original appellation but had to change our mind and also use Thai Massage to be referenced correctly by the search engines and so forth. If we did not use the words "Thai Massage", who would have found us and the information we wanted to share with students, researchers and practitioners of this art.
The Healing Hands Center is dedicated to offering hands-on training in the art of Ancient Massage or Thai Massage.
Thai Foot Massage :
Thai Foot Massage is a massage of the lower legs and feet that is well established in Thailand with influence from Japan, Korea and China. This type of massage originated about 2000 years ago. It has become an integral part of Traditional Thai Massage and has elements of Shiatsu, Reflexology, Chinese Massage and Yoga incorporated into the massage itself.
Thai Foot Massage involves hands on stretching and massage, along with the use of a stick to stimulate the reflex points. It is still taught by Buddhist monks in the temples of Thailand.
Traditional Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage compliment each other beautifully. Thai Massage balances the elements of the mind and body, while Thai Foot Massage stimulates the internal organs, giving the receiver a holistic treatment

The Butterflyhouse
In April this year Nong Nooch Tropical Garden will present a new attraction for the visitors. The Butterflyhouse. In a net house the tourists can walk around and look at butterflies in all different colors. Here you can see everything from small yellow-wings to the worlds largest butterfly, the Attacus atlas.
And you can not only see to nine month for the butterflies, but their whole lifecycle. It takes four steps and about one to nine months for the butterflies to become the beautiful creatures that they are.
First the female butterfly has to lay her eggs on a certain plant, called the host plant. This is the plant that the larvae will eat the leaves from when the eggs hatch into larvae. The larvae are eating until they are as big as they can get. Then they hang themselves under a leaf and moult their skin a last time and become pupas. The pupas can hang like this for a few weeks or several months, depending of which species it is. Finally the pupa hatches and the beautiful butterfly comes out, hanging under the leaf for a while, to get its blood circulating in the wings, to dry of and then it flies away to find it’s first meat. A beautiful flower full of fresh nectar.
There are about 1500 butterflies in the butterflyhouse. To be able to have this amount of butterflies all the time there is a breedinghouse in the garden.
A butterfly lives for about two to four weeks. Everyday about 100-200 butterflies die in the butterflyhouse and 100-200 new ones are released
